The Riga Planning Region European Union Structural Funds Business Centre (hereinafter – Riga Regional Business Centre) started its activities in 2015 and is based on the basis of the information centre of the EU Structural Funds of the Riga Planning Region.
With the support of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Regional Development, Latgale Business Centre was established in 2013. In 2015, similar business support institutions have also been set up in the planning regions of Kurzeme, Vidzeme, Zemgale and Riga, based on the experience of the activities of Latgale Business Centre.
The main planned functions of business centres are: advice for future and existing entrepreneurs (on business formation, EU funds and investment, public authorities’ activities and snow services), organisation of workshops for future and existing entrepreneurs (business forms, business registration, business plan development to be known by the entrepreneur on taxes, marketing activities), and exchange of experience with experts from local governments and public authorities, information on business support opportunities, and coordination of exhibition participation, trade missions and similar activities. Each of the planning regions creates its own model according to the functionality of the region and the specific nature of the activity.
The Riga Region Business Centre is set up to provide support to entrepreneurs already working in the region, as well as support for business start-ups.
